About 2009-1691 Metro Station

METRO STATION - 1-5 years old, 60 pounds, pretty good on leash, friendly, loves car rides, barks for attention, dogs and cats not recommended, older or no children, possibly chronic ear infections.

UPDATE:  Metro Station was adopted and returned to us after living 3 months with his adoptive family. He exhibited some behaviors the family was not experienced enough to deal with and felt it best for him to try and find a new home, better equipped to manage him. We were told the normal dog behaviors of chewing and getting into the trash was fine and preventable.  He did enjoy jumping up on the bed and sofa, again, to each his own but Metro was beginning to guard his food...once in a while. He would turn and snap if you tried to sit down next to him on the sofa...once in a while.  He would lunge at strangers...once in a while. Walking on a leash he is perfect most of the time...occasionally he will react and lunge at other dogs walking by. These behaviors only came out occasionally but they did come out and potential adopters should be prepared to manage them as Metro continues to get settled into a new home.  These behaviors can be managed but you must be willing and able to do so.

Metro Station is a barker in the shelter cage but this did not transfer to a home where he was generally quiet and calm.  Metro is sweet and friendly. He enjoys the company of humans, not so much of other dogs or cats.  He loves to run around and stretch his legs in a nice yard or on a walk which he is perfect on a leash.  He doesn't chase after tennis balls very much, but he does love to play with toys, flipping them left and right and throwing them around.  Metro is smart, knows a few commands and loves to be rewarded.  He enjoys treats, takes them pretty softly, too.  He is, however, a bit cautious when it comes to his ears as he has chronic ear infections which will mean continuous medical care and attention to his ears. This also means he doesn't like too many people messing with his head or ears so young children should always be monitored when around Metro Station and adults should also be careful not to mess with his ears.  Metro Station is waiting to meet you! He is a boy who will most likely fit easily into your home as long as you are willing to give him time to settle in and get accustomed to his new home, routine, and family.  Call 385-4444 or go to our facebook page to make an appointment to meet him. Thanks for choosing adoption!  Virginia Beach Animal Care and Adoption Center, 341 S Birdneck Road, open daily except for Tuesdays.
