CAPTAIN arrived at VBACAC as a stray and never reclaimed. It's sad in these cases bc we don't know what the dog's personality, preferences or behavior is, except what we see and can learn. Here we go! Captain is nervous. He will let you leash him up and take him out but he is hyper sensitive to everything going on around him. He enjoys treats and let me give him some which definitely helped with our photos although I could still barely get a smile. He was warming up to me and has warmed up to staff, but it might take a little time for him to warm up to you, in a new home, new environment. Patience! Patience is so important with some dogs including our boy here. Captain does well with bigger, calm dogs. He's not one for a lot of excitement and puppy shenanigans. He's also good with older kids! Foster Update:
Captain is very smart, playful, and hyper. He has a lot of energy. He wants to play and jump all over the place. He’s like a terrible two year old, just a fun puppy. If you leave it on the floor he’s going to eat it. A peace a plastic….hair scrunchie…he will eat. The house must be puppy proofed. He’s a cuddle bug has adjusted to being affectionate, which is a major step for him. He is clingy and will follow you everywhere, and I mean everywhere.
He has learned to sit and responds to correction well. Captain is food motivated but does not have food aggression. However, he knows to protect his food from other dogs.
He will chase the cat, but if you have a cat that will stand up for itself, he will back off. Then cry about it lol. I believe he think it’s a game.
• He’s gained much weight since super bowl Sunday!
• He is not fully house broken.
• He will pick fights with my dogs, but does stop with a stern voice and a lecture. Then moments later will attempt to plays with them.
• Not sure how he is with smaller kids
